Derelict ~ Photo Art Friday 26 October 2012

Awhile ago I BEgan to make some changes in my art. Lately I have been inspired by Photo Art Friday to come back to some of my paintings with new eyes. It's nice how that works. Really nice...

BElow is a detail of a painting called Broken. Broken was very different BEcause I often use a LOT of colour. This was very colourless, save for a bit of red in the abandoned car's rotting body.

Another painting I made at this time I called Remembered. Again, the colour that was LACKING was what I was focused on. I was responding to an encouragement to make a painting that reflected loneliness.

It was actually a challenge for me to see through such dull and lonely eyes. To leave colour OUT. To convey a whole mood that was different from where I usually went.

Yet it was also wonderfull and inspiring.

For this edition of Photo Art Friday I took these two paintings and brought them together using PSE8, several pdpa textures, Picasa, Picnik, [that remains] and my own willingness to BE surprised.

I know there will come a time, somewhere down the road from Here & Now, where I will see this effort with a smile similar to the one which Broken and Remembered brought me this week. This is what I love about this opportunity to BE prompted, inspired, and invited to share my photo art.

Thank you, Bonnie. You have blessed me and your Photo Art Friday is a gift that just keeps on blessing me.

A great challenge indeed Currie and you rose to it :) it does us good to stretch and do something different doesn't it? I think I need to do that! I love your end result, they lent themselves together so well.

Great pieces of photo-art, Currie. Just love what you have been sharing here in the last few weeks.

Check my post for info about layer masks. :)

Currie, my favorite piece is Remembered. Love the idea of bridges put together in the way you've done it. It looks amazing.
I do, too, feel inspired by Bonnie's link-up each week, although the last few weeks were too busy for me to actually use her prompts...
But I just LOVE to visit each of participants and see what they came up with... it is amazing how many different styles Bonnie's PAF brings together.

btw,
I owe you an email about your last comment on my blog. Thank you!

Great artwork here!

All three I like - are they both details or just the top one? They are very graphic aren't they, without their colour- imagine the second one as an etching and the third as a wood block or lino perhaps. I really like the depth and the texture- and the mystery.

How amazing to turn your old artwork into this new, digital piece. They are both beautiful on their own but I love how you've brought them together and added the textures. I love the idea that your art grows and changes with you and that you've taken this as your inspiration. Beautifully done.

Great paintings, and I love the way you combined them.

I enjoy your PAF experiments and the revitalization of your paintings. You blend imagery into a seamless collage for the subject - know what you mean about trying not to use colour

Wow you are great at these artsy Collage photo pieces. I really liked Remembered a lot. Combining the 2 pieces made for a very intriguing piece.

interesting work indeed. It is like seeing things from two sides and make a new understanding from it. :) Don´t know if that makes sence? ;)

Never sure what you're doing with photos, but I like them. :)

first i want to say that your ability to see with new eyes (and imagination) your older works is so inspiring to me.

the emotional process that you describe in attempting to do artwork without the use of color shows that you are willing to bring raw and difficult issues to your work in order to see what may happen within the piece as well as where it will take you in personal growth.
i applaude you.

the end result of overlapping one image onto the other has produced a piece that is full of interesting shadows and lines . . . i begin to notice and/or imagine hidden images within . . .

thank you for sharing your work and your thoughts.
