4 Days of Adventures With Daily Paper Prompts

Once again, Tammy at Daisy Yellow has enticed my participation in making art with a simple daily prompt. And, while I've done the first 4 days ON PAPER, once scanned they sign away all rights to staying the way they WERE when I scanned them!!

Day #1 was Paint A Rainbow. I had painted some thing or other and cut it all up so I had only to paste the pieces of my somewhat linear rainbow and here's what that netted me:

Day #2 was Windows. Since I have about a gazillion Leftovers from shapes I've cut out, I really looked forward to this one. I still have a bunch of my fishies and sea critters left, too, so this seemed a grand excuse to pair them up. And the result of THAT?!

Of course, by the time I got these scanned and started digital fiddling with them...

Which I found pretty cool, a combined Rainbow[s] in Window[s]. FUN!!!

Onto Day #3 and Drips... Oh my. I couldn't really get things to play well so my dripping mostly was a mess and I ended up spraying water and making even more mess. Again, Picasa saved the day BEcause I ended up making a sort of lemonade out of my lemon-drip attempts...

It never ceases to amaze me what happens when I make "a mess" that is transformed into something completely else once the digital fiddle takes the stage!!!

And finally, Day #4, Flowers... I admit, I am mostly NOT one to draw, but Tammy offered up such a simple tutorial that I thought, Hey, what's to lose?! And so I give you my flowers, digitally fiddled with, but of course ;~D

And wouldn't you know... today while I was just BEing, I picked up my paintbrush and watercolours and created this:

In Series ~ My Maiden Artist's Play Room Adventure

I used to BElieve that I had to BE or DO or HAVE something "more" BEfore I could participate and play with others. I think, NOT to go all psychoanalytical, that this was a bad seed planted in me at the tail end of 4th Grade... I've been challenging it lately, or mayBE I am just noticing it, but what I am finding is that as much as I want to PLAY with others, there are others looking for people to PLAY with them. Perhaps even "more" of them than I could have ever imagined...

So, it is with that brief blah blah blah-dee-blah-dah that I step into this week's Artist's Play Room's "In Series" Challenge, my first ever. [If I've NOT got the process down pat, please don't hesitate to let me know and tell me what I did or didn't DO that I need NOT or TO DO next time. Thanks.

Over on another of my blogs, 366 Daze of Grace, I have collected a bazillion photos of Gracie Mae, my Golden "BFF" & my Service Dog. Each morning I choose one, fiddle with it, upload it, and then write a few words.

I've noticed some mornings or weeks of mornings, I go back to the same well over and over. I seem never to tire of the strolls over our last 7+ years... In them I have several "series" which were either taken all on the same day or are similar Gracie-isms that seem to cross Time.

This little series is probably one of my favourites. These were all taken about 2 weeks after Gracie and I met and chose each other, outside our home in Sedona, AZ. I never seem to tire of them, although I have to say it's been awhile since any of them landed in 366 Daze!!

Fascination with lizards and rocks...

Where the heck did that one...

Okay Now, I think I've got this...

Ah-Hah!! You can't get away from me NOW!!

Hey!!! Where did it go?!

It's funny, even Now as I am writing this she is still right BEside me, though at the moment snoozing, and just the same silly and wondrous girl I first saw way way back then...

I like playing here. Thanks for opening the door!!!

Two Doors for Photo Art Friday 8.3.12

Doors usually make me think of hallways.
There are 2 doors in here, layered over one another twice.
Both doors were photographed in St. Augustine, FL in July 2009.
I like how in layers they seem to float without touching.
It's fun to play more in Pixlr...

ICAD2 Finale... ICADs #56-61

ICAD #56

Little bits: leftover words, cutout octopus, and BIG collage cut into pieces.

ICAD #57

Playing with little treasures and letting my fearlessly fishie character loose.

ICAD #58

Somedays all I want to DO is scatter bits and see where they land...

ICAD #59

Sometimes I wonder if fish dream of flying?! Scraping the bottom of the pile...

ICAD #60

Sorting out my collaging bits and found a few for ICADs.

ICAD #61

All of the bottom is made of tiny bits from recent paintings.
Loved Embrace wrinkles...they add character quote so I worked round that.
This has been quite an eye-opening experience.
All 61 have a HOME in a wee sort of see-through pocket folder.

I DO BE Grateful for this experience the past 2 months.
Thank YOU Tammy!!

Improbable Pairing for Photo Art Friday 27 July

Sometimes I have too much fun... Such is the case with this week's Improbable Pairing. As soon as I heard about this I thought about Gracie and her very good friend Heidi.

Although we have moved East and South, and Heidi and Elizabeth moved North, for an enchanted time we all lived in the same place in Arizona and met daily for Playtimes In Potty Park or a good long Walking & Rolling Round...

I did play with these photos back in 2009, so Elizabeth could have some, but Now that I am learning more than I ever imagined knowing about digital fiddling, I wandered off first into Picasa and then Pixlr Express to see how to tell this story without too many words...

Drumroll Please!!

It's nice to have friends and nicer still to remember good times with them. Improbable a pair though they may have been, Gracie & Heidi were Very Good Friends. Glad we don't have to forget and gladder still for photographs that return us to those wonderful days...

Funny Fishiness for Collage Obsession Challenge

Barracuda Eats Stowaways

Submarine Paradise

Back in May & June I dug out a National Geographic from 1956 that had all sorts of wondrous NG-type photographs of an undersea World, divers, and more. I started to play with them, then got drawn back to an Under the Sea diptych I did in 2010 and suddenly I was springboarding into an entire UNDERSEA World of my own imagination.

I did 12 of these 4 by 4 inch canvas boards experimenting all the way with textures and collaging and then de-collaging. I ended up scanning them all in and fiddling with them in Pixlr which was great fun and taught me so much about the ways to play with such digital fiddling programs.

It just seemed too serendipitous for me to learn of the Fish Are Jumping Collage Obsession Challenge from Michelle V. Alkerton's post http://brainangles.blogspot.com/2012/07/something-fishy.html so I just decided to drop in and share them!!

ICAD #49-55

ICAD #49

Fun with leftover bits and inverting colours in Picasa.

ICAD #50

More bits from here and there and a long ago favourite Timmy-face.

ICAD #51

Leftover from fishies on a bit of patterned paper with poeming words.

ICAD #52

Loving this turtle and a leftover line from "Under the Sea" paintings.

ICAD #53

Fiddling with some OLD scraps and bits and posterising in Picasa.

ICAD #54

A weird little gathering together of thises and thats.

ICAD #55

Playing with the more "normal" version of #49 without inverting colours.

This past week has been a delicious muddling about in PLAY. ICAD-making BEfore bed makes me very ready to sleep deep and NOT have my busy brain waking me. I love that discovery...

Somehow this DOing things daily is snow-balling in my little World. I have been nearly unstoppable and having so much fun it is hard to remember I don't know a whole lot of what I am DOing.

Tricky and Sweet!!!
