Exercising the Freedom To Choose ~ APR #28

This week's Artist's Play Room is "You Choose" which, ordinarily, might make me spin... Instead I had fun, learned some things, and truly PLAYED.

I made 3 digital collages, keeping myself on task with my one-a-day commitment to learning to use Photoshop Elements 8.

Each of these digital collages were made from some of the mountains of photos I've used over the last 5 years writing my daily Gratitude. I used to just gather up possibilities searching Google for treasures... it was several years BEfore I ever considered using my own photographs. [frankly I had no clue HOW to DO it]

Hold On

Love One Another

Play

The fun part was, as always, the Digital Fiddling. I'm fairly certain that one of these days I will truly understand what each thing does. For Now, however, I am getting lots of use out of UNDO.

I enJOYed, too, that Jenn let this week's offering BE my own choice. It made me think about what I'd really like to try out and offer up to share.

This has been such a glorious addition to my Life, APR, as well Texture Tuesday, Photo Art Friday, and, the place I got started, Creative Every Day

I didn't think, for a long while, it was for me. I thought I wouldn't fit in or BE welcome, both among the ways that I keep myself small and apart from others. Instead I have BEgun to look forward each week to participating and more excited, too, to see what others are up to.

The real gift for me is that I am NOT playing here all by myself anymore. Sharing and getting to visit and comment on others' links is the highlight of each week. Amazing how good it feels to have been wrong... AGAIN!!

just add water silly's blog hop link

Fabulous pictures! I love coming to see your work and I'm amazed at how alike my own thoughts are to yours about 'not fitting in or being welcome'. I too am delighted to be wrong about that and even though I will never be as good as the artists I visit, I am having fun :0)

Wow..it is hard to believe you are new at PSE! Great stuff Currie! I've been stuck in a PSE/SOOC rut and this has motivated me to get learning again! Thanks!

I don't know anything about altering photos, but it is interesting to see what you did with them. :)

I've finally finished my cleaning and organizing project so I can get back to contributing more often to my APR and zendala weekly challenges. I am meeting wonderful new people, too. ;)

I love your creative spirit, and your 'about me' description! "An artist with the soul of a teacher"...and the 'I've stayed apart..." you could be describing me! :-D amazing - this internet world of connections across the world! Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog too - (I've left you a reply.)

Really nice collage look to your altered photos. I got a kick out of your saying you use the "Undo" button a lot. Me too! I would like to eventually know how to do layers, a total mystery to me.

I think the online art community is very accepting and encouraging. I like your digital work, especially the last vibrant piece.

I'm with Rita, totally mistified by photoshop. Have no idea how to manipulate photos, lol. I especially liked your holding hands one so I used that. Great digital collages.

I too felt unsure about joining this talented artist blog world especially after my mojo had been missing for 12 years...but what a brilliant, sharing, caring, encouraging group they all are.

It's truly a special place to play, expand and learn as you create. What a journey and one we are all on! ;D
It doesn't look like you are 'fiddling' Currie...they are stunning! xox

Man, I have some things to learn from you! I struggle with Photoshop. I especially like what you did with the hands in this post. On a whole, the FUN and JOY you had while playing with this shows!

Hi Currie -- Well My Hat is Off to You for even attempting PSE 8. I still have 5 and don't know half of it. So you go digi and let us know how that is working. Any neat stuff to know. You know when I started my blog I told myself it would be all my work or my photos. Just something I started out doing, so glad you found your photos too. Thanks for the sweetness at MorningDewdrops. Blessings Terri -- so busy this week; just now getting to everyone. Hope to have new post with event on Oct 1. see ya
